At Champion Lumber, we believe that proper management of each stand of timber is of the utmost importance to us. We promote and follow the industry’s Best Management Practices (BPM’s) and silvicultural principles, and we are committed to adhering to them on each timber stand where harvesting takes place.
Proper forest management includes selective harvesting techniques whereby only the mature, overcrowded, diseased, dying, or poorly formed trees are removed. These practices improve the health of the forest by increasing regeneration and by allowing younger trees to obtain the sunlight, water, and nutrients necessary to achieve growth. This process results in faster growing and higher quality trees, better wildlife habitat with an increase in both food and shelter, and leave behind a more productive and higher quality timber stand for future generations.
